Being flexible is an important part of being a good gymnast. Though you will be working on increasing your flexibility in your gymnastics classes, it is prudent to spend time working on it outside of the gym as well. So, if you want to increase your flexibility and improve your performance in gymnastics you\u2019ll need to come up with a stretching plan. Make sure to be realistic with your planning. Talk to your coach and make sure that they approve of the pace you\u2019ve set for yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n Consistency is key. You can\u2019t stretch for a week and then disregard your plan for a month. You need to be stretching every day in order to reach your goals. Ask your coach or your teammates to keep you accountable for stretching every single day.<\/span><\/p>\n As you\u2019re coming up with a plan, consider the different types of stretches you should be engaging as you work toward your goal of increased flexibility.<\/span><\/p>\n Dynamic Stretching<\/b>: This kind of stretching is done through movement. You slowly move into a position and through repeating this action you slowly increase your range of motion. Though it does not increase the range of motion as much as static stretching, it is beneficial for warming up.<\/span><\/p>\n Static Stretching<\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>When engaging in static stretching you should make sure to do so with muscles that have already been warmed up.
